As Tai Tokerau Timebank covers such an enormous geographical area we use Neighbourhoods, Counties and Community Timebanks within TTT to make things more manageable.
Neighbourhoods: This is the area where you live or where the contact person for an organisation is based. If you can’t find your neighbourhood on the list select ‘Other’ and we’ll create a new neighbourhood on the list for you and add you to it. These enable people to know roughly where you live, which can be important if they’re trying to find someone to help them with a task.
Counties: We’re using the County option on the website to break down Far North District Council, Whangārei District Council and Kaipara District Council into local coordinator areas. These are based on where you live (or where the contact for an organisation lives). The Counties we use are
FNDC: Te Hiku West (includes Kaitāia), Te Hiku East (includes Doubtless Bay), Whangaroa-Kerikeri (includes Kaeo), Bay of Islands (includes Paihia, Russel & Opua), Mid North (includes Kaikohe, Kawakawa & Moerewa), Hokianga,
WDC & KDC: Whangārei Urban & North (includes Hikurangi, and Tutkaka coast), Whangārei South & Kaipara (includes Waipu, Mangawhai, Dargaville)
Community Timebanks: These are where you get a choice! You can be in as many of these as you wish. Hopefully we've now added everyone to the Community Timebank area they live in. The coordination team can filter messages sent from the website using Community Timebanks to promote or remind people about events, and send out urgent messages etc. If you only want to get such emails about local events etc you don’t need to do anything. If you live and work in different areas, or are keen to be involved more widely go in to your profile and click on ‘Connections’. You’ll get a pop up box with two tabs in it, one for Affiliations, and one for Community Timebanks - tick as many boxes on those as is relevant and you’re all done! If you’re an offline member just let your Guardian Angel or local coordinator know your preferences and they can update them for you and you’ll go on the relevant phone lists. Of course you’ll get info about the whole Timebank here, and through the notifications, it just helps you opt out of extra getting emails that you don’t want.
Using these fields as filters: you can use any of these fields to help narrow down your search options within Offers, Requests, Timebankers' Talents etc. Click on the down arrow in the 'Filters' box
This will give you a drop down menu
If I select 'Community Timebank' then you'll get an extra box added into the bar:
If you click on the down arrow in the Community Timebanks box you'll see a list of all the ones available
Select the one you're looking for and the results will be filtered accordingly. The Filters work the same way within all parts of the website.
If you’ve any questions about this or need help changing your settings ask your local coordinator
